The credit system for Ph. D. Course	Marks	Credits
The PhD scholars will have to appear for an examination in research methodology: It includes Statement of the problems, Research approach, Hypothesis build-up & testing, Review of literature, Theoretical frameworks, Research designs, Tools of data collection, Data analysis, Statistical methods for analysis- SPSS, Chi-square test, etc.	100	5
The scholar will have to choose any two subjects from the following subjects. At the end of the course he/she has to appear for an examination. Media Audiences Pop Culture Communication and Culture Film Studies Media Ethics Journalism Studies Communication Studies Television Studies New Media and IT Media Management Public Relations Advertising	50 + 50 = 100	3 + 3 = 6
Review of literature followed by a colloquium by an external expert. The topic should be other than that of the PhD topic	50	3
Research design, approaches in research and data analysis	25	2
Present a paper either at a National or an International Conference or publication	25	2
Total	300 marks	18 credits

Applicants for Ph.D should have passed PET to qualify to undertake Doctoral Studies with University of Mumbai. Please go through Mumbai University website for upcoming PET programme.
